Tips for Amazing Portrait Photos

Hi all! Let’s take a moment today to talk about how to take better portraits! Everyone needs a truly good portrait shot of themselves, I’ve found.  People love it when they are photographed looking their best, so these tips are going to be great for achieving that goal.

Brides (or anyone in the wedding party), you may want to cue in here! There will be so many photos taken of you on your big day-- and the several weeks leading up to it. Be sure to give them your very best!

  1. First of all, wear simple clothes. Simple solid colors photograph the best, and put the focus on you rather what you are wearing. Of course you will want to wear clothes that you look good in and flatter you, but this is all about people seeing you.
  2. The best lighting is going to come from being outdoors during a cloudy day. This is going to give your skin the most natural look overall.
  3. If you are using a backdrop, be sure that it is simple.
  4. Turn up the image resolution on your camera in order to get a higher quality shot that shows you off.
  5. Put your camera in “portrait mode” (taller in frame than wide).
  6. Last of all, SMILE! A genuine smile will make your pictures shine.

As always, you’ll look beautiful when using our Mary Kay products, and remember that good skin care is essential to photographing well! Whether you are having a portrait done or it is someone you know, advise them to take very good care of their skin for a couple of weeks before their shoot (when possible). The results will be stunning!

Mary Kay Gives Back and So Do We!

Hi everyone! I’d like to take some time today to talk about when Mary Kay gives back. A big part of being a successful company involves doing good things and fostering good relations with communities. That is why Mary Kay has donated millions of dollars to charitable causes over the years, and remains committed to helping out generously in the future.

Mary Kay was created with the Golden Rule in mind, and has always sought to help out wherever possible. Some of the most recent donations have been 3 million dollars which were given to domestic shelters around the nation, as well as a focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness and green initiatives.

Domestic violence in particular is something that we all can make a difference, so be sure to take opportunities to assist whenever possible.

I have found it to be immensely satisfying to work for the betterment of a community in any way possible, whether it is fundraising or donating. I’ve found that we can do a lot of good by keeping an eye out for worthy causes.

Mary Kay is always looking for ways to give back and contribute to the community. What are you doing to better your community?

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Who Wants to Work With Me??

Over the last month, we’ve seen a definite dip our team’s progress. We’re not being as ambitious or on-task as we have been in the past. But I know something, and I hope you know it, too:  We have such potential to succeed!

Ladies, we can do better!! You are phenomenal—each one of you. You wouldn’t be a part of this team if you weren’t. I know we are all putting in work in some way—just this morning I was at Costco Warm Chattering with one of our unit members. But we need to be better as a team.

I want you to succeed. I am willing to train you and put in the effort for us to make this work. Please attend our unit meetings! They can be such a blessing in your life and your career. We only grow as much as we put forth effort, and unit meetings are a great way for us to strengthen our weaknesses and encourage each other!

I know success is possible. It takes hard work though. In the last month and a half I have pulled in 50 new clients even spending half of that time on vacation. That’s not just experience talking. You are talented; you can do this, too!

If you let it, Mary Kay can help you do great things, reach your goals (personal and professional), and learn a lot about yourself. Please don’t pass up this opportunity!

Be a Happy Bride with Glowing Skin for Your Big Day

Hi everyone! Before we get into the weekend, I’d like to take a minute to talk about Mary Kay, and the way we can help brides be beautiful on their big day. Obviously, when we serve as beauticians for a bride, a lot of our products can make a difference. After all, Mary Kay has a wide variety of everything from makeup to hair care to skin care that brides-to-be will love.

While the rest of these products are great, I’d like to focus on skin care for brides today. Brides need and love clear and glowing skin. On your special day, you want to look as good as you possibly can. You want to look good in a natural and healthy way- there are a lot of brides who aren’t so much concerned about their perfect eye makeup so much as they are with the way their skin looks and feels on their big day.

I like to get brides who want to use our skin care products going with them a few weeks before the wedding. Good skin care takes time, and we all want it to be as easy a process as possible- that looks and feels superb. I like to work with brides in order to get them going on a better skin regimen, and to teach them how to maintain it for a long time.

It is a wonderful thing to be a bride! Its nerve wracking and exciting all at once, so these special ladies deserve to look their best on their special day!
