Hi everyone! I’d like to share one of the defining moments of my life with you today. This experience has helped shape who I am and what I can accomplish.
When I was 16, I went on a survival trek that truly tested my limits and my resolve. We were to hike 15 miles a day, and our trek took us through miles of slogging through water and trudging through the endless sands of the desert.
On the last day, we started a hard trek after our watering hole had dried up. Our counselors ran ahead of us to assess the situation, telling us to push on by ourselves. We were left alone for the last 15 excruciating miles. 4 people collapsed during that trek, and I ended up having to tie 2 people to my waist to encourage them to keep up the pace and continue onward without giving up. The five of us walked on, wishing our camp was moving toward us as we trudged toward it.
It was brutal, and we felt truly alone.
My will to move forward was gone for the last 7 miles I was hiking. The only thing that kept me going was a thought in my head that comforted me and made me feel loved. I felt like I was being watched and protected from afar. After we finally made it to our camp and collapsed,, I has the opportunity to learn that our counselors hadn’t disappeared- they were hiding and watching us! They watched the drama from afar so that we could discover our own potential and grow from the experience.
I’ve often thought about that trip and related it to my own life now. I know that there are truly no limits to what I can do or where my capabilities lie. I know that I can stretch a little further by having faith, putting my trust in my Higher Power, and giving everything to Him.
I’m sharing this story with you all in order to show that there really are no limits on the things that we can accomplish. Sure, it gets stressful and trying at times. No one can deny that. However, the way that we react to life is truly what defines us.
I hope that you all understand that we are children of God, and that it is essential to surround yourself with people that are rooting for you. Such great results can come through faith and persistence.
Whether you apply this to family, your personal interests, or your business; this lesson that I have learned is one that can make a true difference in your life. Never give up, and always keep pushing on. You can always make it!
Have a great weekend!

Observe and Serve in Your Own Way
Hi everyone! Now that fall is here in full force and the
holidays are around the corner, I’d like to focus on serving others today.
There are a lot of ways that we can help out that make a difference- both with
Mary Kay products and services and with our own more personal means.
If you want to use Mary Kay to serve others, consider
using product and your skills to give friends and family makeovers, advise them
on their skin, or teach them how to quickly do makeup that looks great for the
entire day. These are little things, but I promise that the important people in
life will appreciate them.
We also can do our parts for our families and communities
by performing little acts of kindness, like raking leaves or baking some treats
to take to a neighbor. Some of the most satisfying experiences that I have had
involve kind acts of service for others, especially when they don’t expect it!
Service is important! I highly encourage everyone to find
the things that they can do in their own communities to make a difference.
We’ve all had times in life where we appreciated the gestures made by others,
so would I think it’s important to do the same for others.
One of the best resources for serious volunteers is the United Way. These amazing people have a
lot of service opportunities that they need people for, both temporary and
agency based. I am proud to support their efforts.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Tips for Amazing Portrait Photos
Hi all! Let’s take a moment today to talk about how to take better portraits! Everyone needs a truly good portrait shot of themselves, I’ve found. People love it when they are photographed looking their best, so these tips are going to be great for achieving that goal.
Brides (or anyone in the wedding party), you may want to cue in here! There will be so many photos taken of you on your big day-- and the several weeks leading up to it. Be sure to give them your very best!
As always, you’ll look beautiful when using our Mary Kay products, and remember that good skin care is essential to photographing well! Whether you are having a portrait done or it is someone you know, advise them to take very good care of their skin for a couple of weeks before their shoot (when possible). The results will be stunning!

- First of all, wear simple clothes. Simple solid colors photograph the best, and put the focus on you rather what you are wearing. Of course you will want to wear clothes that you look good in and flatter you, but this is all about people seeing you.
- The best lighting is going to come from being outdoors during a cloudy day. This is going to give your skin the most natural look overall.
- If you are using a backdrop, be sure that it is simple.
- Turn up the image resolution on your camera in order to get a higher quality shot that shows you off.
- Put your camera in “portrait mode” (taller in frame than wide).
- Last of all, SMILE! A genuine smile will make your pictures shine.

Mary Kay Gives Back and So Do We!
Hi everyone! I’d like to take some time today to talk
about when Mary Kay gives back. A big part of being a successful company involves
doing good things and fostering good relations with communities. That is why
Mary Kay has donated millions of dollars to charitable causes over the years,
and remains committed to helping out generously in the future.
Mary Kay was created with the Golden Rule in mind, and
has always sought to help out wherever possible. Some of the most recent
donations have been 3 million dollars which were given to domestic shelters
around the nation, as well as a focus on domestic violence prevention and
awareness and green initiatives.
Domestic violence in particular is something that we all
can make a difference, so be sure to take opportunities to assist whenever
possible.
I have found it to be immensely satisfying to work for
the betterment of a community in any way possible, whether it is fundraising or
donating. I’ve found that we can do a lot of good by keeping an eye out for
worthy causes.
Mary Kay is always looking for ways to give back and
contribute to the community. What are you doing to better your community?
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Who Wants to Work With Me??
Over the last month, we’ve seen a definite dip our team’s
progress. We’re not being as ambitious or on-task as we have been in the past. But
I know something, and I hope you know it, too:
We have such potential to succeed!
Ladies, we can do better!! You are phenomenal—each one of
you. You wouldn’t be a part of this team if you weren’t. I know we are all
putting in work in some way—just this morning I was at Costco Warm Chattering
with one of our unit members. But we need to be better as a team.
I want you to succeed. I am willing to train you and put
in the effort for us to make this work. Please attend our unit meetings! They
can be such a blessing in your life and your career. We only grow as much as we
put forth effort, and unit meetings are a great way for us to strengthen our weaknesses
and encourage each other!
I know success is possible. It takes hard work though. In
the last month and a half I have pulled in 50 new clients even spending half of
that time on vacation. That’s not just experience talking. You are talented;
you can do this, too!
If you let it, Mary Kay can help you do great things,
reach your goals (personal and professional), and learn a lot about yourself.
Please don’t pass up this opportunity!

Be a Happy Bride with Glowing Skin for Your Big Day
Hi everyone! Before we get into the weekend, I’d like to take a minute to talk about Mary Kay, and the way we can help brides be beautiful on their big day. Obviously, when we serve as beauticians for a bride, a lot of our products can make a difference. After all, Mary Kay has a wide variety of everything from makeup to hair care to skin care that brides-to-be will love.
While the rest of these products are great, I’d like to focus on skin care for brides today. Brides need and love clear and glowing skin. On your special day, you want to look as good as you possibly can. You want to look good in a natural and healthy way- there are a lot of brides who aren’t so much concerned about their perfect eye makeup so much as they are with the way their skin looks and feels on their big day.
I like to get brides who want to use our skin care products going with them a few weeks before the wedding. Good skin care takes time, and we all want it to be as easy a process as possible- that looks and feels superb. I like to work with brides in order to get them going on a better skin regimen, and to teach them how to maintain it for a long time.
It is a wonderful thing to be a bride! Its nerve wracking and exciting all at once, so these special ladies deserve to look their best on their special day!
